To feel better and become a healthier person you need to limit the amount of fat you take in. The easiest way to do this is by researching low fat recipes and putting them into practice. In this article i will give you some quick tips to turn your diet around.

Oil
Make sure you only use just enough oil as to not damage the pan. Measure the amount of oil you are using and keep this constant throughout all the meals you cook. At least if you keep the amount of oil you use the fat content will be the same for every meal not constantly changing. Just use 1 calories spray or flora have some low-fat cooking oils

Non Stick Cookware
Non stick cookware can be a great way to eliminate using oil or spray completely as this means the food cooks in it’s own juices. The only thing is that this can dry out the food and make it taste a little bit different. The only thing is that these pans can get damaged with excessive uses and can be quite costly to buy.

Meat
Buying the best quality of meat can cost money but you need it to live a healthier life. Online butcher shops, I find are the best way to go as they deliver your meat to your home or office. The provide premium quality meat at wholesale prices. You can save up to 40% on leading supermarkets with the Dublin Meat Company.

Exercise
Make sure to exercise, as just eating healthy will make you feel good but to loose weight you need to walk or run in some sort of way. I am not talking about going training everyday more hours just something small like a half an hour walk.

Vegetables
The most health part of most vegetables is the skin. It could boost your nutritional intake of vitamins, increase your energy levels and even combat cancer so drop that peeler. Just one normal potato skin can provide half your daily recommended intake of phosphorous, zinc, vitamin C, soluble fibre, potassium and iron.

When making any dinner, a good way to keep the fat content low is to reduce the amount of meat you use in your dinner. If you limit your portions to smaller amounts of meat and fill up on vegetables. A great way that I find to loose weight is to eat small but frequently. An apple here and then your lunch then another small snack can really help your metabolism ticking over

Breakfast
Make sure to eat breakfast. Remember that your metabolism has been asleep all night and the first thing you eat is going to have a massive impact on how your metabolism works for the day. Eat wholegrain bread with low fat milk in your cereal. Make sure to include some fruit aswell in your morning routine even if it is only an apple or orange on the way to work, it is better than nothing.

Following some of these tips can help you to live a much healthier life. Cutting down on fat in meals will help you so much too loose weight.

Starting your own restaurant business takes a lot of investment capital to get off the ground. Nothing is more difficult than starting a business from scratch. You will need to find a permanent location, furniture for customers to use when they come in for a meal, and then you will need to have enough money to hire people to work in your restaurant preparing meals and waiting tables.

While these are some serious expenses, none of them compare to the amount of money you will be spending on having the proper equipment in your restaurant to prepare food. You will need large pieces of equipment like walk in freezers and commercial grills. Finding top of the line commercial kitchen equipment is expensive, but the success of your business will largely depend on your equipment, so it is well worth the investment.

One of the main reasons that you need this type of commercial equipment is because it is made out of reliable materials. You will be using this equipment frequently throughout the day, sometimes over 8 to 12 hours or more. You need equipment that will last a long time and provide you with hours of use in order for it to be worth the investment. This type of equipment will not need to be repaired or replaced very often.

When you are looking for equipment, you also want to make sure that it is the best at what it does. You want a freezer that will keep your frozen items cold so that they will not ruin or spoil. Having large grills and stoves will give you the capability to cook up large quantities of food at a time. Keep these factors in mind when you are looking for equipment for your restaurant.

Remember that while cheaper equipment might save you money initially, if the equipment breaks down, it will cost you twice as much to replace it and will also cost you business. Stick with professional equipment for the best results.

Tired of processed cheeseburgers and fries? Need zest and flavor in your life? Get out of town! Literally, leave the country. Discover some of the Europe’s traditional delicacies. Many of my fondest memories abroad involve food. A particular dish can take you back in time—you remember where you ate it, with whom you were dining, how the dish tasted, and even how you were feeling that day. Here are a few of the European delicacies which take me back in time…

Seafood Paella, San Sebastian. Northern Spain offers some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes. One such scenic region is San Sebastian. It was in this picturesque, seaside city that I tasted the BEST paella of my life. Though paella can be considered a Valencian dish, I think the Basque country produces some serious competition. The traditional rice dish came out sizzling on an enormous pan, with mussels and clams emitting a savory steam. The flavor was unreal! I was with a group of nine friends, and we all shared the seafood paella, as well as copious amounts of wine and fresh bread. Perfection!

Waffle Sunday, Barcelona. For those of us who appreciate the sweeter things in life, consider a trip to the coast of Spain. I discovered one of my favorite desserts in Barca: the Waffle Sunday. The gelato in Europe is dangerously yummy, and when you combine that creamy delight with a warm, perfectly toasted waffle, you get the most scrumptious, mouth-watering result. Drizzle some chocolate syrup on top of the waffle before adding the gelato, and voila! You created the breakfast of champions.

Pesto Pizza, Cinque Terre. It’s no secret that Italy is home to the best pizza. Those Italian charmers have a way with dough and cheese. While I was on a weekend trip in Cinque Terre, I discovered Pesto Pizza. Wowza. I thought Dominoes was the cat’s meow before my taste buds encountered a whole different kind of animal. Turns out authentic, hand-made pizza far surpasses American fast-food chains. It’s hard to explain, but this pesto pizza practically melted in my mouth. Heavenly crust coated with melted cheese and topped with flavorful pesto. Cinque Terra is said to be the birthplace of pesto, so you can imagine how tasty it was on the already delicious pizza. This meal was the best reward after completing a five-mile coastal hike.

Spanish Tortilla, Madrid. I lived in Madrid for four months and never once tired of tortilla española. I could have lived off this traditional Spanish dish. Made with fresh potatoes, eggs, and of course some olive oil, Spanish tortilla is really a simple, hearty dish. There are variations of tortilla. Some people like to add onion and/or salt for flavor. Some add ham or vegetables. Regardless, it always turns out delicious. I have the best memories of enjoying pinchos of Spanish tortilla in Retiro Park, preparing the dish with my señora, and enjoying a slice with my sister when she came to visit me one weekend.

Banana and Nutella Crepe, Paris. This is yet another sugar fix for sweets fanatics. Everywhere you go in Paris, you encounter crepe stands. Vendors effortlessly prepare delectable crepes on large, flat stove tops. The Banana and Nutella combination is a personal favorite. So delicious! The Banana and Nutella crepe is a quick and delicious treat to enjoy while exploring the city of romance.

These are just a few of my favorite things from Europe. It’s time to create your own menu of memories! Look for cheap flights on Travelocity.com and use a Travelocity promo code to help you save some money. Bon voyage and bon apetite!

Erin Prickett is a food and travel enthusiast who enjoys finding great deals on meals and flights. She recommends using a Travelocity promo code to help save some money on your next flight!

Now that the summer is coming and we are starting to get warmer days, everyone is keen to get out of the house and start enjoying the sunshine. However one of the problems is that when you go out, you normally end up spending a small fortune on door and drink, and as we all know, money is tight for everyone at the minute. This does not mean that you can not go out though. Here are 3 options which will create great meals for you all to enjoy while you are out and about.

Picnic Hampers

Why not create your lunch at home, then package it all up into a convenient hamper that you can take with you? Some sandwiches or small snacks such as pork pie’s, pasties or sausage rolls? A few snacks and nibbles and a bottle or two of your favourite drink? This will not cost you any more than it would if you stayed at home for dinner, however it will give you the freedom to eat wherever you want.

Obviously, certain foods will not be suitable, while others will require you to take a cool pack to keep the food cold and others may need you to pack some tableware and cutlery with you as well.

BBQ

You could always take a disposable BBQ with you and have a BBQ while you are out. You could either take the meat for the BBQ with you or purchase it while you are out, which would save you having to keep it cool until its ready to cook. Obviously you would need to allow time for the food to cook, but this could help to make the meal into a part of the day, rather than just fitting food in between the rest of the activities.

Discount Vouchers

If you do decide to eat out at a restaurant, you can at least try and make it as cheap as possible. Many restaurants have discount vouchers on their website, or for following them on Twitter or Facebook. This could be anything up to buy one get one free, so can save you a lot of money. Another tip is to try and limit the amount of drinks that you have at the restaurant, as this is usually the most expensive part of the meal. Have a drink before you go into the restaurant and ensure that you have one ready for when you leave.

Hay Hampers provide a range of high quality gift hampers for a range of occasions, ranging from birthdays through to Christmas. They also offer a wide range of wine through Vintners Selection. You can find news and discounts for Hay Hampers by following them on twitter, @HayHampers.

So you have a party to go to, and you have to bring a dish. Maybe you don’t have time, or maybe you’re simply not a good cook, so you rely on buying something at the store, putting in one of your own dishes and passing it off as your own creation.

But simply changing the container won’t get the job done—someone at the party is bound to know you’re faking. If you really want to pass a store-bought dish off as your own, you need to put in some extra effort.

Desserts
Store-bought dessert is one of the easiest food categories to manipulate, but you have to do it right. For instance, many people buy store-bought cakes and rough up the frosting in order to pass it off as their own. Unless you do some real roughing up, though, cakes are pretty hard to pass off. So are cookies. Nobody is going to believe that those perfectly round cookies with just the right amount of chocolate chips or M&Ms came from your kitchen.

If you want to manipulate a dessert, brownies are a safe choice. Purchase plain brownies and add your own frosting, whipped cream or nuts to the top. The toppings are the part of the brownies that people will pay attention to, so as long as that part of the brownie looks homemade, you should pass it off without any problems.

The same goes for cake. If you want to pass a cake off as your own, buy one that doesn’t already have frosting or toppings on it and add them yourself.

Salads
Salads are another category that is easy to pass off as your own. If you visit the deli at your local grocery store and pick up a pasta, macaroni, caesar or potato salad, they are usually pretty plain. But purchasing the salad and placing it in one of your own dishes will not do the job—someone will suspect you’re trying to be sneaky. If you add your own extra ingredients to the salad, though, it will help you pass the dish off as your own.

For example, did you pick up a basic pasta salad? Why not add some seasoning and additional vegetables to the mix? Did you grab a taffy apple salad? Throw some crushed up Snickers in there. Simply making some small additions will make everyone at the party think you slaved for days.

Appetizers
Appetizers work the same way as salads. If you pick up a store-bought appetizer, you need to make some of your own additions to be able to pass it off as your own. Did you pick up a ready-made dip? Add some fresh ingredients to the dish. Maybe even add some cheese and melt it all together before bringing it to the party.

Adding extra ingredients or creating your own toppings is a great way to spice up a boring store bought item and pass it off as homemade. If you want to pass a store-bought dish off as your own, you need to make a small effort to make it seem realistic.

I use to have a personal tradition whenever I finished a hard day of work. I would head down to my local McDonald’s and treat myself to a Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry. There were also nights when midnight would hit and I needed a sweet treat. I would hit my local drive through, and the staff knew what I wanted before I even ordered. In my opinion, it was the best dessert ever. And then one day, it all ended. I showed up for my McFlurry fix, and they told me that the Strawberry shortcake flavor was no longer being served. I thought it must’ve been some kind of mistake because, how could they get rid of the best thing on their menu?

Some of you might not remember the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry, and others might not know it existed. I have some friends in other parts of the country who said their local McDonald’s never even served it. But trust me, it was one of the best deserts ever created, and I still miss it to this day. I wish I could bring it back from the dead, but instead – I offer this memorial. I will always miss you, Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry. Let’s take a look at all of the reasons why McDonald’s should have kept you on their menu.

The perfect blend – the secret ingredient that made this dessert so special was the perfect blend of strawberry and chunks of shortcake. The shortcake had a perfect texture that never got soggy, and it wasn’t too sweet. It was perfectly-mixed vanilla ice cream flavored base with strawberry syrup. There was nothing particularly fancy about the recipe, and that’s what I loved the most. It was Strawberry shortcake in its purest form… well, about as pure as something you would get at McDonald’s.

Other Mcflurries – since they discontinued the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry, I’ve tried every other flavor. Obviously, the Oreo version is the most popular, and it’s the one a lot of people have as their first choice. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Oreo McFlurry, but you can find it almost anywhere. It basically just tastes like cookies and cream that you can get at your local grocery store. As for the caramel and M&M McFlurry, they are way too sweet! I don’t know about you, but I could never finish one by myself. It’s almost like trying to eat and ice cream version of chocolate syrup.

Awesome memories – the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry was associated with some pretty awesome memories for me. It was a special treat that I shared with people I cared about. Since I loved it so much, I wanted to show it off to people who had never tried it before. And as a result, they came to appreciate it as well. I’ve got lots of memories of romantic walks, trips to the beach, and late-night chat sessions that were made even more special with the addition of this McFlurry Flavour.

Making it Yourself – when I eventually accepted that McDonald’s would never bring this flavor back, I tried to make it myself. It’s a lot of work, but I already know how to make vanilla ice cream with my Cuisinart maker. As for strawberry syrups, they are relatively easy to find any local grocery store. The part that I can’t get quite right is of the shortcake. I’ve tried baking my own in addition to looking for cookie versions that I can crumble up. I can get it close, but it’s never quite the same. I guess I will just have to settle for this replica that comes close while remembering how special the real deal used to be.

One of the most important challenges for an aspiring chef is to learn to make delicious and savoury scrambled eggs. This dish seems simple, but it is very easy to do it wrong. Scrambled eggs which are too dry, too runny or too spongy are ultimately unappetizing. However, when scrambled eggs are done right they can be melt-in-your-mouth delicious and they can really show off just how flavourful a simple egg can be.

The Perfect Side

Scrambled eggs are usually served as a breakfast food alongside toast, hash browns, bacon, sausages and other morning favourites. However, they can also be spiced up with tomatoes, hot sauce, vegetables and other flavourings and served with wraps, sandwiches and much more.

Unscramble Your Egg Technique

If you want to learn to make scrambled eggs which really impress, it will take a bit of practice until you get the technique down. Here are some tips to remember which will help you perfect your scrambled egg technique:

Add some liquid. When you crack the eggs into the bowl, add a bit of milk, water or sour cream to the eggs as well before you whip them. This will make them more tender and moist and prevent them from becoming too rubbery.

Whip it good! Stretch out your arm muscles, because you will want to furiously whip your eggs until they are completely mixed into a uniform colour and texture.

For added flavour, add some salt and pepper to the egg mixture before cooking if you desire.

Coat the hot frying pan with some butter before adding the eggs. Make sure that it is very hot before you place the egg mixture in; you can test it by flicking some water at it and seeing if it sizzles.

As soon as you have added the eggs, you must pay close attention. Don’t wander off and expect your scrambled eggs to cook themselves, this is a dish which you must closely monitor. The eggs will begin to solidify and as soon as they do you should start moving the mixture around the pan with the spatula. Move the cooked parts to the top and allow the still-liquid parts to come in contact with the hot pan.

If you need to, you can tilt the skillet to distribute the still-runny egg around the rest of the surface.

Be careful not to overcook your eggs, or they will become too rubbery in texture and will not taste as good. Once all of the runny parts are gone they should only need around 15-20 more seconds before you can take them off the heat.

The scrambled eggs can be flavoured with a bit of salt and pepper to bring out their taste. Some people enjoy hot sauce or ketchup on their eggs, but this is down to personal preference as others like to let the flavour of the eggs shine through without any condiments.

Eat your scrambled eggs as soon as possible so that they do not cool down, as they do not taste nearly as good when they are cold.

It will likely take several practice runs until you master the art of creating the perfect scrambled eggs. However, once you have found your ideal scrambled egg strategy you can make this delicious dish for yourself anytime you desire, whether it is breakfast or not! Good luck and enjoy cooking!

The art of making superb scrambled eggs is a crucial lesson taught in cooking schools and it takes plenty of practice to master this tricky dish.

Vegetables are college students’ friends for a variety of reasons. Veggies are always there when you need them. Veggies hang out with you all the time, including morning, noon and late nights. These healthy little morsels will keep you looking slim for hot dates, acne free, disease free and pumping a healthy heart. That’s what friends are for, right?

Veggies are easy to be with. You can cook veggies any way you wish, and these foods don’t complain. Chop, dice, julienne, steam, bake, boil or eat them raw, veggies are always good to you. Dip a veggie or wrap a veggie in a pita, it’s always good to you. Colors don’t matter to veggies. Green, orange, purple, yellow or red, veggies love them all.

All joking aside, vegetables are college students’ friends. These are the buds you need to keep yourself healthy and fit. Like fruits, vegetables are low-fat and contain healthy amounts of minerals and vitamins. All the orange, yellow and green veggies are rich sources of magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, beta-carotene, and vitamins A, K, C and B. Additionally, veggies contain many oxidants that protect the body from stress, cancers and diseases and help the body develop the capacity to fight disease by boosting immunity. Vegetables contain soluble and insoluble dietary fiber like pectin, mucilage, cellulose and gums that absorb excess water and assist in elimination. Sounds gruesome, but hemorrhoids and chronic constipation are no fun.

In addition to being great buds for staying healthy and fighting off disease, veggies are buds when you need to lose weight. When trying to lose weight, sometimes it’s hard to stay full. This is where your buds are there to help. Vegetables are low-density energy foods that help you stay full and stick to your diet. Energy density is a ratio of caloric content of food to its weight. Veggies range from 0.1 to 0.6 calories per gram. Water and fiber contribute to the low-density energy of veggies. While water doesn’t contain any calories, it adds weight and volume to food. The fiber in veggies fights absorption of fats and helps keep you lean. Veggies also help lower cholesterol and blood glucose levels.

Veggies also please the palate and make your toes curl. Buy a fresh batch of carrots, peel and steam. Its natural sweetness is a culinary delight. Add some bok choy, Chinese cabbages, shiitake mushrooms, garlic and onion to a stir-fry for some flavor and crunch. Slice up some cucumbers, broccoli and carrots for dunking in a curry tip. For a treat, make a carrot cake using whole grains. Wrap up your favorite choice of veggies in whole grain pita bread. Veggies are your buds because it’s a food that will put a smile on your face.

College students need to hang out with these buds more. Recent studies show that college students are eating less than one serving a day of veggies. It is recommended that five servings a day of vegetables are necessary for optimum health. Take head and spend more time with these healthy buds.
